Title: Core Baptist Principles in the Twenty First Century Alan Bearman |
Workshop Description:
In his work as a college professor, Alan Bearman has learned that historic Baptist principles connect strongly with students. Baptist Distinctives, as they are sometimes called, are especially well suited to communicate with the age in which we are now living. While few care about denominational organizations, there is an eager reception for the principles that called the Baptist movement into being. Alan will share stories of his work with students in a public university and the way that our traditional affirmations speak to young adults of our time.
Presenter:
A native of London, England, Dr. Bearman first came to the United States as a high school student in the mid-1980s. Indeed, it is fair to say that his move from the East End of London to Western Kentucky was a life-changing experience. Graduating from Madisonville North Hopkins High School, he obtained a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, B.A. and M.A. degrees in History from Murray State University, and a Ph.D. in American History from Kansas State University. Currently serves as assistant Professor of History at Washburn University.
